What was studied

An online survey of 346 current adult brass band participants using self-reported experiences.

What it contributes

Members described valued social and musical experiences. They also reported anxiety, interpersonal difficulty, time demands, pain and concerns about hearing.

Where the evidence stops

The survey did not objectively test health outcomes or establish causation. A percentage summarizing coded quotations must not be presented as the percentage of people who benefited.
