What was studied

A collective case study of seven active Nebraska community band members who had returned after gaps of six to 50 years.

What it contributes

Social contacts, family circumstances and work transitions shaped the paths back to playing.

Where the evidence stops

Every participant had already returned successfully. Their stories cannot estimate the likelihood of returning or represent people who wanted to return but could not.
