What was studied
Thirty-five New Horizons members aged 65 or older completed interviews and anxiety questionnaires.
What it contributes
General anxiety was associated with performance anxiety. Participants described feeling exposed or judged, while reporting that participation’s benefits outweighed its stressful aspects.
Where the evidence stops
These are current members’ accounts and associations. They do not show that playing treats anxiety or represent everyone who left a band.
