Research connects musical experience with selected cognitive and brain measures. The central questions are what was compared, how participants were selected and whether change was actually followed.
Observational cohorts can identify relationships between instrumental activity and dementia incidence. They cannot establish how much, if at all, joining a community band changes an individual’s risk.

Quality of life, speech-in-noise, motor and imaging papers in this collection share one Swiss-German trial. Each adds an outcome analysis, not an independent replication of the whole experiment.
