A phenomenological case study using two months of rehearsal observation and interviews with seven current nonprofessional members aged 25–84.
What it contributes
Belonging coexisted with concerns about repertoire and musical satisfaction. The organization and leadership later changed.
Where the evidence stops
Seven selected volunteers cannot represent everyone in the band. Later developments were outside the original comparison and do not demonstrate the effect of a leadership intervention.
